ANEMONE

A lesson in team cohesion.

Anemone was an experimental nonprofit organization designed to connect audiences of all ages to marine sanctuaries across the world. The project described here is a theoretical partnership between the Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBAQ) and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF), illustrating how both habitats and communities half a planet away from each other are still interwtined.

Sketches

The team was comprised of designers and artists seeking to better understand the role of coral reefs in general and the legal classification of marine sanctuaries in particular. This all needed to be conveyed in a brand identity that read as approachable, educational, and something with a little bit of intrigue.

Ideation

My focus for the project centered around our team's artifact. This artifact was an installation featuring a three dimensional bathymetric map of the Great Barrier Reef set within a larger-than-life anemone. It was designed to be displayed at the entrance of the Open Ocean exhibit in the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Final Deliverable

The final deliverable arranged the brand identity of the newfound Anemone institute alongside the proposed collaboration between MBAQ and GBRF.
