2024 OLYMPICS CAMPAIGN

A test of endurance.

In anticipation of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, I designed an unofficial advertising campaign focused around one of the sports on the docket: artistic gymnastics. This months-long independent project began with an infographic and ended with a 16-second animated commercial.

Infographic

This poster contains a broad overview of artistic gymnastics as it has appeared in the modern Olympic Games. The real star of the show, however, is the set of pictograms I designed for the project. They shall appear in other promotional materials later on.

Outdoor Media

Whether you call it out-of-home media, a wallscape, or a billboard advertisement, the function remains the same. This poster was designed to be viewed from a distance at larger scales in the CMYK color space. It is rather unfortunate, then, that it must be translated into RGB values for it to be seen here.

Brochure

Compared to a billboard, a brochure is a very intimate piece of media. After it has been printed, cut, and folded, there is an additional layer of tactility that both space-enveloping installations and interactive digital experiences lack. Paper weight and texture certainly factors into this tactility, but designers must also consider where the reader is likely to grip the brochure, the direction in which they would intuitively open it, what information would be revealed first, and so on.

Commercial

This commercial was not designed for television, per se. It feels more in line with the kind of content users find on web browsers, sandwiched between two unsuspecting YouTube videos. The animation is set to the tune of Lucienne Boyer's Parle-moi. I am not well-versed in this particular craft, but the final product is as polished as a lone illustrator who refused to rig any objects can make it.
